Privacy Policy

Last updated · June 6, 2026

Pinestack helps you catalogue the physical discs you own. Your collection lives on your own device - we keep what we collect to a minimum, and we never sell it. This policy explains what's stored, where, and why.

01 Information we collect

Pinestack is built to keep your data on your device. The information involved is:

  • Your collection. The discs you add - titles, formats, cover art references, and any notes, locations, or status you record - are stored locally on your device. We do not hold a copy on our servers.
  • Barcode scans. When you scan a barcode, the number is sent to our lookup service to identify the title. Scanning happens on your device, and we don't store images from your camera.
  • Purchase information. If you subscribe, the transaction is handled by the App Store or Google Play. We receive a confirmation that your subscription is active, but never your payment-card details.
  • Diagnostics. Basic, aggregated app and device information (such as app version and crash reports) that helps us fix problems and improve reliability.

02 How we use it

We use this information to maintain your local catalogue, to identify discs you scan, to keep any subscription active, and to understand and improve how Pinestack works. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data.

03 Where your data is stored

Your collection is stored locally on your device. Optionally, you can enable your platform's native cloud service - iCloud on Apple devices or Google Drive / backup on Android - so your collection syncs across your devices and is restored if you reinstall the app. When enabled, that data is held in your own cloud account, governed by Apple's or Google's privacy terms, and is not accessible to us.

04 Service providers

A few trusted services help Pinestack run: a metadata provider for title and cover-art information, the App Store and Google Play for subscriptions, your platform's native cloud service for optional sync, and standard analytics infrastructure. These providers process data only to perform their function, and movie metadata and artwork remain the property of their respective sources.

05 Your choices & rights

You can view and edit your collection at any time inside the app. Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app - and turning off cloud sync - removes it. You can manage or remove cloud copies through your iCloud or Google account settings. Questions about your data? Write to support@pinestack.app.

06 Children

Pinestack is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

07 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pinestack evolves. When we make material changes, we'll revise the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
